Business Description
TOG is home to one of the most creative, exciting and forward-thinking working communities in the UK.
We pioneered the concept of the shared workspace in Britain. TOG launched in 2003, when the global economy was beginning to be radically reshaped by new technology and new ideas. Our aim was to reconfigure the modern British workplace to bring it into line with a fast-changing world.
When we founded the company our vision was this: to create beautifully designed buildings with a wide variety of spaces, and to offer tenants progressive membership schemes and short-term leases to allow for growth and change. Each building has its own unique identity, but all have an excellent range of facilities and vibrant communal areas to foster an open, collaborative working culture.
Today, TOG has over 15,000 members working across 33 buildings, 31 of which are in London, with 6 more opening next year. We house one of the fastest growing and most diverse workforces in Britain: app creators and advertising agencies; makers and media companies, financiers and foodies; artists and architects; and a smorgasbord of startups, entrepreneurs and freelancers.
We (Olly and Charlie) worked for both property companies and serviced office providers before starting up The Office Group in 2003 with the backing of BRIDGES VENTURES, a socially aware Private Equity Fund.
In September 2010 – when there were 7 buildings in the portfolio - Lloyd Dorfman CBE, the founder of TRAVELEX, serial entrepreneur and leading philanthropist, funded the management buyout of the previous private equity shareholders and became the majority shareholder and the company’s Chairman. He was already running 4 buildings very much along the same ethos as ours, so we joined the two groups together under The Office Group brand.
In late 2011, we completed a deal with NETWORK RAIL to form a 50:50 Joint Venture vehicle to refurbish and run empty office space in 5 mainline stations in London. In addition, we created drop-in working areas in the Stations.
In June 2017 BLACKSTONE (a global leader in Real Estate investing) acquired a majority interest in the business, beginning a new era for TOG.
