Company Directory / The Entertainer (amersham) Limited

Business Description

"Established in 1981, we're now The UK's No.1 independent toy retailer with stores nationwide.

The Entertainer, the fastest growing multichannel high street toy retailer in the UK, has over 100 stores in the UK, and stocks thousands of toys and games online at With over 30 years experience in the retail industry, there's not much we don't know about toys.

As a family run business (Husband and wife team Gary and Catherine Grant founded The Entertainer in 1981) The Entertainer embraces family values. Our mission is to be the best-loved toyshop - one child, one community at a time.

Our international partners continue to trade well and we are now trading in Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Cyprus with some exciting developments planned for 2017.

Our partner SEFAM will be opening their first store Entertainer store in Karachi, Pakistan in early 2017 as well as our 4th store in Lahore in Emporium Mall in December 2016, as well as having a store in Islamabad. Our Azerbaijan partner ZETA have opened their second store in Baku in 2016 and we are working closely with them to launch in new stores in 2017. We have launched 3 shop in shop stores within Debenhams in Cyprus with our partner ERMES.

21st September 2016:
“The Entertainer, the fastest growing multichannel high street toy retailer in the UK, has posted strong annual results for the financial year 2015/16. The Entertainer, which now has 126 stores across the UK, experienced its seventh consecutive year of growth and reached a pre-tax profit of £6.9m, after the exceptional investment cost of £1.2 million on the build of its new distribution warehouse in Banbury.
Like-for-like sales were broadly flat to the previous year’s trading, although 2014/15 was particularly high due to a number of consumer crazes at retail such as Loom Bands, Lego Movie and Frozen. On a 2 year basis The Entertainer’s sales were up 11% like-for-like. The Entertainer added a further eighteen new stores to its UK network, as well as expanding the number of its overseas stores to 6. This, combined with careful cost control and a drive for efficiency, contributed towards another year of record profit. There was also an increase in the retailer’s margin, driven by more focussed marketing promotions in-store and online, alongside continued strong buying. The Entertainer saw an impressive 39% growth online at"
